If you want to celebrate a special occasion or just impress a date, it can be difficult to find the perfect restaurant, away from tourists, hyped-up menus, and the desire to crowd as many people in as possible. Here are some restaurants that are bound to impress and create a romantic mood.
Clos Maggiore
No romantic restaurant list is complete without this addition – it’s repeatedly been voted the most romantic in London and it’s easy to see why, with its intimate courtyard, blossom roof, and sparsely quiet seating. Located just off Covent Garden market, it can be difficult to book a table so it’s important to do so in advance rather than leaving it to the last minute.
Galvin La Chapelle
Another stunningly beautiful location, this time in Shoreditch. Vaulted ceilings, a view into the kitchen, and beautifully balanced menu all work together to give you a feeling of grandeur without going completely over the top. The Michelin star doesn’t necessarily have to come with the usual price tag – there are often offers on sites like BookaTable to make the most of the menu without paying more than you can.
Duck and Waffle
If you’d prefer panoramic views over London, you can do considerably worse than Duck and Waffle, located in the Heron Tower in City of London. Ask for a table in the furthest corner of the room for a little more privacy and enjoy stunning views of the capital’s landmarks while eating dinner. You can share dishes, platters, and small plates throughout the evening, but definitely try the trademark Duck and Waffle if you want to make the most of your evening.
Sketch Gallery
Sketch looks like a pink version of futuristic 1950s – the beautiful Glade bar is perfect for a quick drink before you move into the overwhelmingly salmon coloured restaurant. Rather than being self-consciously cool, Sketch is quirky, fun, and offers a toilet that you won’t see in any other restaurant in London. Just go and don’t Google it, we wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise.
